Panionios player will be Sotiris Economopoulos next season. The “cyanostrians” announced on Friday the acquisition of the 22 -year -old guard, formerly of Olympiacos, Lavrion and Promotion Patras, for the following season, with the young ace being the sixth transfer of the Neosmyrnians during the summer season.
Economopoulos distributed it last season between Hermes Schimatari of the Elite League and the Patrons.

“OEM Panionios announces that Sotiris Economopoulos is part of the team’s living potential.
Sotiris Economopoulos was born on August 29, 2003 and is 1.91m high. He competes as a guard and began his journey to basketball from Olympiacos and is the sixth this year’s Panionian transfer.
At the age of 17 he competed with Olympiacos II team in the A2 championship, where he recorded 5 entries (2020-2021). In the following season (2021-2022) he had 2 appearances with Olympiacos in the Greek Basketball League, winning both the championship and the Greek Cup.
During the period 2022-2023 he was a member of the Pan-Era in the A2 Championship, where he had averaging 7.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 34 matches. That year he also made a career record in points (22), assists (6), rebound (8) and apt three -pointers (4) in the match against FEA NF/NX.
The following season (2023-2024) he competed in both the Greek Basketball League with Lavrio (1.4 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 8 minutes) and in the Elite League with Psychiko (in 20 matches he had 6.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 assist in 20 minutes).
Last year he started the season in the Elite League and specifically to Hermes Schimatari (14 matches- 17 minutes- 3.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists) and completed it at Prometheus Patras (9 matches with 1.9 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists).
In the summer of 2023 he was a member of the National U20 that won the bronze medal at the European Championship in Heraklion, making excellent appearances. In 7 matches he had 10.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals on average.
