For a month now, the Akil He gives another big life battle as, after 1.5 years, when he overcame the testicles in the testicles in June diagnosed with leukemia.

The 33rd Italian forward of Virtos Bologna has been in Valencia for a few days to take a specialized treatment, as it was not possible in his country.

The experienced ace gave a shocking interview to ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’, revealing the thoughts he made as soon as he learned about leukemia, fearing death. At the same time, he talked about the course of his treatment and the bone marrow transplantation he needs to do in a short time.

In detail his statements:

“I felt frustrated. After two years of battle with cancer, people collapsed when I discovered that I had an even more serious illness. I began to think, “Why me? What am I wrong?” Compared to this disease, what I had before is incomparable. When I heard the word leukemia, I linked it to death. It’s scary.

After Bologna I went to Valencia because no one in Italy offers this kind of treatment. I finished a round of chemotherapy last Wednesday and will start a second in a few days. These days I have a license, I take some pills that should reduce the risk of recurrence in the future. This practice is not available in our country. In the first few days I was not very good I had nausea and stomach pain and they fed me through intravenous injection.

The second cycle will be easier, but then I have to do bone marrow transplantation. So we have to evaluate how I will react. We do it day by day and wait to see if I will be able to leave the hospital for a few days in late July. So I can’t say when I will be able to return to Italy. I’m lucky, though, because my family is here with me. Being all here is a wonderful feeling, an incentive to fight.

I began to have a fever in May during the series of playoffs against Venice. The fever was not falling, I was weak, tired, but I thought it was due to the stressful moment of the season. From the eve of the 3rd race against Armani Milan, everything changed. On that day I did the exams and a computed tomography for post -volume control. It’s a process I repeat every six months. And everything was normal. But that night at the hotel, my fever had not fallen. It was 38.1.

So I decided to call the team’s doctor who came to my room. At that point, he admitted that one of the results of the exams was a bit low. We decided to go back to Bologna for exams, so the next morning I left and went to the hospital. Initially, it seemed to me like a mononuclear, but then I got the diagnosis that you all know. “
