Independently engraved in the memory of Dimitris Soulis, July 30, 2025 will remain. The young Greek wrestler won the silver medal at the U17 World Championships, hosted at the “House of Wrestling” and combined this great success with his birthday.
Shortly after the medal was awarded, by the Secretary General of the Hellenic Federation, Costas Thanos, Soulis received a pleasant surprise. While with his athletes, he was recovering the historical moments on the podium, his mother entered the room holding his birthday cake. Soulis was surprised, but quickly recovered and enjoyed the small celebration that the managers had prepared for him the Greek Federation.
In his first statements, after his success, the young wrestler emphasized: “It was a difficult fight and unfortunately I had an injury to the leg and I couldn’t attach as I wanted. I apologize to my relatives and friends who came here for no reason. Unfortunately I didn’t do it, but I’m not unhappy. I appreciate the medal that God gave me and we continue for the best. I felt very happy with the presence of the world. I was motivated and thank everyone. They helped me a lot and I want to dedicate this medal to my family, my coaches and my athletes, Menelaos and my friends. I hope to be able to do something better in the future. I would like to thank everyone for the surprise they made me, I didn’t expect it and met with the medal. It’s something I will remember forever. ”
