Dear friends, I am pleased to announce that next week another book is entered into the printing house, in an illustration of the brother and amazing graphic designer, Stratis Menidis, with my favorite AEK and specifically the story of her jersey (yes, what do you put again).
It will be entitled “yellow -black jersey” to refer to the slogan “As you are in Philadelphia the places and appearances of a yellow jersey, you will immediately catch the drunkenness of joy …”. After all, the book is dedicated to the memory of the leader, Dimitris Hatzichristou. It is rather more album than a book, as the emphasis is placed on photographs and accompanying texts are (as far as possible).
In its 240 pages (yes, daddy finally came out), there are essentially all the jerseys and appearances that AEK wore in its super -years history, with some accompanying texts with explanations, information, omitted. I admit that I started it, in March, with the urging of the Stratis, more as a game, to get something small, a sampling presentation of the club’s lanes.
I was trapped in something that proved to be much more complex, because I am not used to the seeds and half the jobs. I arrived to eat endless hours in the research, at whatever source available and did not exist, to distort every archive and base of photographic data that exists, digital and natural, to spend day by day, “handle”, the 100-year-old newspaper files. But I think it was finally worth it.
The end result is complete, aesthetically good, and there is a rich material that comes to light for the first time. I hope the reader finds the book and useful and enjoyable. In the coming days I will give more information than when it will be available, when it will be presented, where it will be available.
For the time being, I would like to thank the Stratis, for the fantastic work he did and for his patience, as there should be no more pressing and oppressive person than me in such things. I also thank the huge Stelios Manolas for the great honor that made me foretell the book.
