In detail the update
The first seminar of the VAR referee season was held by the Central Arbitration Committee on Friday 19/09 at Var Center, which has been renovated to support new technological capabilities and semi -automatic offside. The seminar named Var Room will take place on a monthly basis with the aim of continuously improving the project.
In Var Center, the “House of Arbitration” in Maroussi, added 4 new halls and the necessary equipment to use new technological capabilities and to properly support the semi -automatic offside. KED leader Stefan Lanua and VAR manager Paulo Valeri announced to the referees the conduct of a VAR seminar per month, which will include two basic modules, analysis and discussion of VAR interventions of previous races and practicing. The monthly seminars will be held by Mr. Valeri.

Then the vice president of KED/EPO and VAR head took the baton, Paulo Valeriewho, after asking the referees to give the utmost importance to training, proceeded to the first part of the seminar, which concerned the phase analysis of the first Super League 1 and the Cup League Phase. The discussion was mainly revolved in the referee’s communication issues with the VAR referees and the need for the referee as quickly as possible, as well as the choice of the right reception angle to facilitate the referee in making the right and quick decision. It is worth noting that Mr Valeri focused particularly on the need to reduce the interruption time to examine the phases, which is the direction of FIFA and UEFA.
The second part of the seminar included referees’ work on the simulators and the corresponding analysis of VAR phases and interventions, with examples of matches.
