‘International Surf Film Festival’ receives entries – Origin Surf

Applications for the second edition of the Ubatuba International Surf Film Festival (FICSU), which takes place from June 16 to 19, at Praia Vermelha do Norte, in Ubatuba.

National and foreign productions made from January 1, 2019, with surfing as a theme, of all genres, formats, duration and production region, will be accepted. The application period runs until April 10th.

The selection of works will be carried out by the Festival’s Curatorship Committee and they compete in five categories, in addition to the Popular Jury Award and the Official Jury Award.

The categories are as follows:

• Praia Grande Award – the most popular beach in Ubatuba, an award for the most popular film;
• Sununga Award – a different beach, good for skimboarding, the waves hit the rocks and come back to the sides, a prize for an innovative film, which changes the way we see things;
• Red Award – a more extreme surf beach, with waves that break very close to the sand, a prize for a more radical film, which takes us to the limit;
• Itamambuca Award – a beach that appeals to everyone, with regular waves, throughout the year, an award for a complete film, with a good narrative, well done in all its aspects;
• Perequê-Açu Award – a beach where the surf school in Ubatuba is located, ideal for beginners, a prize for first-time directors (first or second film).

The format of the event follows the same as the previous year, with four days of “foot in the sand” movie sessions, in addition to attractions such as music concerts, sustainability actions, workshops, fair of local producers, among other things.

The second edition of the Ubatuba International Surf Film Festival is presented by Decathlon and the Ministry of Tourism, with the support of Fundart and Ubatuba City Hall, co-organized by Instituto Semente and Trapézio Produções Culturais.
