For the seventh time in the World hoops final, Petrounias

For the seventh time in his career, Lefteris Petrounias will be present at the hoops final for the World Gymnastics Championships which takes place in Jakarta.

The 34-year-old champion scored 14.366b for his program on Sunday (he lost points due to his exit) and with the completion of the qualifiers on Monday, they are formally in the eight group, who will compete for the medals on Friday.

Petrounias, who had the fifth best qualifying scorewill claim his fifth medal in the event after three golds (2015, 2017, 2018) and one silver (2023).

In the final, China will be represented by Liu Yang and Chu Jingyan, who were with Petrounia on the podium at the Paris Olympics, but by Lan Xingyu, world champion in 2021 in hoops, and Chang Boeng, “silver” Olympic champion in the combined individual and “bronze” Olympic champion in singles in 2024 at Paris, who was also 9th in the hoops.

Harry Hepworth (Britain), Glenn Quill (Belgium), the evergreen Samir Ait Said (France) and the Turkish Adem Asil, who at the end of May climbed together with Petrounia to the first step of the European podium, will be present in the world final. The new names are the 31-year-old American Donnell Wittenberg, who even scored the 2nd highest score in the qualifier, and the Brazilian Caio Souza.
