AEK Larnaca has been the owner of the Cyprus Super Cup since Thursday. The team from Kitio defeated last season’s champions, Paphos, on penalties 5-4 (1-1) in the final of the tournament and won their second trophy in the event and first since 2018, taking the first title of this season in Megalopolis football.
Paraskevas, who took Pepe’s last penalty, is a hero for Immanuel Indiaquez’s team.
The match was balanced for most of the match, with both teams alternating dominance and missing important chances to score a second goal.
Paphos managed to take the lead in the 20th minute with China, but AEK equalized 1-1 in the 27th minute with Angelski’s header.
With the score tied at regular time, the two teams settled their differences on penalties. Everyone was accurate, until Paraskeva “fished” in the last execution of Pepe and saved, giving the trophy to the “yellow and green”.
