THE Panathinaikos suffered another defeatthis time from the Monaco of Vassilis Spanoulis, which confirms his weaknesses and intensifies the reflection in the ranks of the team. As his envoy pointed out in his comment News Bulletin 247 and his sport-fm.gr, George Petridisthe image of the first month of the season is not what the people of the club expected, nor of course the one that befits a team aiming for the Final Four and winning the title.
“The Greens will have to improve and fix a lot if they want to go all the way“, commented the reporter, underlining that the team appeared in yet another match below the circumstances and expected everything from three players: Nan, Sluka and Huatso. These three players were called upon to carry almost exclusively the burden of creation and execution, but against a tough and organized Monaco, this was not enough. The rest of the roster did not live up to the circumstances, as a result of which Panathinaikos once again presented an image without cohesion, energy and competitive identity.
The defensive function was problematic, the attack was based on individual efforts and the team’s morale looked fragile early on. As Giorgos Petridis noted, the dependence on specific units cannot be a stable basis for a team that has set its sights on the top of the Euroleague.
