A Boca Juniors (ARG) fan was arrested this Tuesday (26) at the Neo Química Arena, in Itaquera, after being caught making a racist gesture against Corinthians fans, during a match for the group stage of the Copa Libertadores.
The Brazilian team won the match 2-0, with two goals from Maycon.
Images circulating on the internet show the Argentine imitating a monkey and taunting Corinthians fans. Identified, he was removed from the stands by military police. His name has not been released so far.
According to SBT and ESPN, the Military Police Command confirmed the arrest for an infraction of racism. The man was taken to the Jecrim (Special Criminal Court) which is inside the stadium and, after the game, he will be taken to a police station near the arena.
He should be framed in the crime of racial injury, which provides for imprisonment from one to three years and a fine.
During this Tuesday’s match, about 2,500 Boca fans were in the alvinegro team’s arena, where they occupied the South sector, behind one of the goals.
Corinthians and Boca Juniors are in Group E of Libertadores, led by the Brazilian team, with six points from three games. Deportivo Cali (COL), Always Ready (BOL) and Boca appear, respectively, in second, third and fourth, but the Colombians and Bolivians have one less game.
