The 30 numbers that made history in the “eternal” derbies

Olympiacos and Panathinaikos clash at SEF next Monday for the 8th game of the Stoiximan Basket League (22/11, 19:30) and ESAKE made a tribute to the 30 numbers that made history in the “eternal” derby.

Analytically:

“The most classic Stoiximan Basket League derby is coming. Panathinaikos OPAP and Olympiakos will face each other next Monday (22/11, 19:30) in a game that is “flesh by flesh” of Greek basketball. A couple that does not just arouse the interest of Greek basketball fans but of the whole of Europe, returns after an absence of two seasons, something that makes it even more special. Esake.gr collected 30 of the numbers that formed the backbone of these games from the distant 1963 when the First National Division was established and mainly during the years of the professional Championship and in 1992.

1: 197 the times when their paths crossed since the payment of the First National (from 1963-64), including those where the winner was judged on paper.

2: 76.14% the percentage of victories of the respective hosts since they prevailed in 140 of the 197.

3: 1,100 days will be completed on Monday (22/11, 19:30) since the last time the two “eternals” met in the Stoiximan Basket League. It was on November 18, 2018 (Panathinaikos-Olympiakos 79-70).

4:35 points is the biggest difference with which Olympiacos defeated Panathinaikos. It was in the fifth final of the 1996 playoffs (73-38).

5:31 points was the biggest difference with which Panathinaikos OPAP defeated Olympiakos. He was at home for the regular season of 2004-05 (86-55).

6: They scored 89 points in total the two teams in the fifth final of the 1995 playoffs with a score of 45-44. It was the only one of the 197 games between them in which they both stayed below 50 points.

7: 110 points is the highest performance of a team in these games. Olympiakos had scored so many in the home match of the 1990-91 season (110-94).

8: 106 points is the greatest performance of Panathinaikos OPAP in the “eternal” derby. He had scored so many in the home match of the 1984-85 season (106-84).

9:39 points is the highest individual performance of these games in the years of the professional Championship. It was Zarko Paspali who “wrote” 39 in the home victory of Olympiacos for the regular season of 1992-93 (78-76).

10:35 points is the record of a Panathinaikos OPAP player and was scored in the same match of the 1992-93 season. They were noted by Arian Komazets.

11: 100 games hosted by Olympiakos from payment of A ‘Ethniki will be completed on Monday. In the previous 99, the “red and whites” counted 65 victories and the “greens” 34. Four of the 99 were judged on paper.

12: 6 of the 141 matches between the two teams in the years of the professional Championship, were judged literally on the point. Both teams have scored three victories in these matches while three of these games were for the playoffs, in 1995, 2007 and 2016.

13:18 times the two “eternals” met in the 29 series of finals of the Stoiximan Basket League. One of the two was present on the 29th.

14:10 of the 18 series of finals between the two teams were judged in Game 5.

15. 79 final playoff matches took place between Panathinaikos OPAP and Olympiakos with the respective hosts winning at 62.

22: 137 different players played with Panathinaikos OPAP in the “eternal” derby during the years of the professional Championship.

23: 75 derby counted in his career in the category Vassilis Spanoulis, more than any other player in the years of the Stoiximan Basket League. He made 49 with Olympiakos and the remaining 26 with Panathinaikos OPAP.

24: 71 participations counted in his career o Dimitris Diamantidis, more than any player with a team in the history of these Stoiximan Basket League derbies.

25:64 times participated in these matches George Printezis who has the lead of Olympiacos.

Vassilis Spanoulis scored 26: 844 points in the “eternal” derby and is the first on the relevant list. He scored 537 of them as a player of Olympiacos and 307 as a player of Panathinaikos OPAP.

Dimitris Diamantidis “scored” 27: 767 points in the derby and is the first scorer of Panathinaikos in the years of the Stoiximan Basket League.

28: 632 are the points of Giorgos Printezis who has this first for the side of Olympiacos.

29: 1 only coach, in the years of the professional Championship, went through both benches. It was Lefteris Subotic who coached Panathinaikos OPAP in the two years 1997-99 and Olympiakos from the middle of the 2001-02 season until the beginning of the 2003-04 season.

Olympiakos and Panathinaikos OPAP met 30: 8 times in November for the years of the professional Championship. At seven, the respective hosts won, six by the “greens” and one by the “red and whites”.
