Super-Earth was discovered 36.5 light-years from our planet

Ross 508b is four times larger than Earth and is in the solar system of a “red dwarf” – Its year, ie a complete orbit around the star, lasts 10.75 days

A new Super-Earth, four times the size of our planet, has been discovered by scientists, collecting valuable data that will enrich humanity’s knowledge of space and other solar systems.

The planet Ross 508b is located at a distance of 36.5 light years and revolves around a “red dwarf”. The duration of a complete orbit around the star of the system, is only 10.75 daysin contrast to the annual cycle of the Earth, which lasts almost 365 days.

Despite the fact that the zone in which Super Earth is located is neither too hot nor too cold, scientists believe that conditions on the planet are not conducive to the development of life, at least in the form we are able to know.

What has impressed scientists is this: Ross 508b, despite having completely different conditions compared to Earth, seems to be it is on the whole more rocky and less gaseous. In other words, it is very similar to Earth, a fact that should be further investigated by the teams that have undertaken its study and in particular the team of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan’s Subaru Telescope in Hawaii.
