Elon Musk has threatened to close the $44 billion ($3.53 billion) deal to buy Twitter.

According to the billionaires, the social media giants refused to provide them with information about the number of spambot accounts on the platform.

Lawyers for the CEOs of Tesla and SpaceX threatened to include a social platform in a statement sent to the US Securities and Exchange Commission in a letter sent today on Twitter.

According to the letter, Musk has repeatedly requested information to assess the number of fake accounts out of the company’s 229 million accounts since May 9, about a month after the company’s initial public offering.

“We are actively resisting and interfering with information rights,” Twitter said.

The lawyer in the letter says that Twitter offered to provide only details about how the company was tested. But they claim that it is “equivalent to refusing to request Mr. Musk’s data.”

As for Musk, he says, you need to know the number of fake accounts on the platform before you buy to know the scale of the problem.

An industry insider said Musk’s interest in the number of real and fake accounts on the site could be related to his possible plans to boost Twitter’s revenue through user subscriptions and advertising.

Susannah Streeter, senior investment and market analyst at Hargreaves Landsdown, said the numbers are a “key indicator” of Muskellunge’s rig plans, but the delays are a tactic to drive down bargain prices.

“Mask’s Twitter capture was always intended to be a nasty vehicle, and now it threatens the number of fake accounts on the platform,” he said.

When the proposed acquisition was announced in April, Musk said one of his main goals was to “defeat spam bots” by flagging fake automated accounts on the Rice Field platform.

Musk has also vowed to strengthen free speech on the site and believes former US President Donald Trump should lift Twitter’s permanent ban.
