TikTok is making changes to its incredibly accurate Page for You algorithm.

With TikTok, you have more control over your “you” page and can improve content moderation for younger users.

Now you can quickly specify specific words or hashtags that you don’t want to appear in your feed and the app will automatically exclude them.

This feature is similar to muting keywords and hashtags on Twitter, giving you more control over the content your users see.

The platform also implements two new automatic moderation and filtering tools.

The first, called the content tier, is designed to rate content based on “topic maturity” and keep adult content away from young users.

Similar to movie and video game ratings, this feature warns or limits minor content.

Short video apps also identify problematic trends and take steps to limit the number of related videos, especially those that may be harmful to the user.

TikTok’s main selling point is its incredibly accurate “You Page,” which has been criticized for contributing to harmful or dangerous trends.

Recently, the company has been accused of the deaths of children while trying to cause a virus “power outage” on the platform.

“TikTok has spent billions of dollars deliberately designing products that promote dangerous content that is known to be dangerous and can lead to the deaths of users,” the lawsuit says.

The platform already has the ability to “moderate” video on the page, along with an “I’m not interested” button to limit video from specific users or include specific audio. The new features give users more control over what they see, but can also make app recommendations even more accurate.

Currently, the new word-based filters only scan video descriptions and text-based stickers, but they could be more sophisticated. Since TikTok’s automatic captions are so good, the platform will moderate the video based on the transcripts.

The new features will be rolled out in the “coming weeks.”
