Snapchat is set to bring calling and messaging capabilities to the web for the first time.
This means Snapchatters can communicate with each other outside of the app.
Snapchat for Web was first available to users of the company’s Snapchat+ subscription service in the UK and other countries, but will be available “soon” to all users.
Users will be able to access the platform by visiting web.snapchat.com and logging in with their Snapchat details.
The social media giant said that all of its core messaging features will be available in new web apps and that glasses for video calls will be available soon.
The company has confirmed that users will be able to send more snapshots from its web applications.
“Our community spends a lot of time online in distance learning, work, streaming, surfing, etc. There is a great opportunity for the community to stay connected all day and bring our community together. I can’t wait. My favorite basic Snapchat feature on the web,” says Snapchat.
According to the company, the web version of the platform will also include a privacy screen that hides the Snapchat window (and the user’s chat) if you click on another task as part of its security measures.
