Instagram is facing a more legal rush as new proceedings claim social media apps have caused eating disorders and other mental health problems in teens.

On Monday, Instagram owner Meta faced two new proceedings accusing her of contributing to eating disorders and other mental health issues in teens.

The proceedings are the latest in a series of proceedings linking social media to children’s mental health problems.

A family of two girls, represented by Laura Marquez Garrett of the Social Media Victims Law Center, filed a lawsuit alleging that Instagram had sucked the girl into the service, causing her depression, anxiety and loss of appetite.

Both proceedings on Monday allege that Instagram algorithms promote eating disorders by displaying images of extremely thin models and content related to extreme exercise for teenagers.

Both girls attempted suicide and were taken to the hospital many times. One of them had to wear a feeding tube from time to time because she wouldn’t eat.

According to the lawsuit, the company knows that some people depend on the services and said that teenagers are particularly vulnerable. The company also said that it could not confirm the age of the users, and although the minimum age was 13, both girls could participate at 12 years old.

The tech giant has also been accused of shielding minors from sexual messages. The algorithm recommended “friends” who are adult Instagram users who actually have mental health issues or use Instagram products to find and attract young girls. ..

At least nine other proceedings have been initiated against Meta, who alleges damage to the mental health of minors, including those who accuse the company of supporting and assisting in the suicide of an 11-year-old girl. So far, everything is in the early stages.

In June, Instagram introduced a new parental control tool for teen accounts in the UK.
