Fortaleza, Natal and Recife receive 3.5 GHz 5G on Monday (5) after release from Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency).
The decision was taken by Gaispi (Group for Monitoring the Implementation of Solutions for Interference Problems), which met this Thursday (1st).
After the release, the country will have 15 capitals with the technology. 5G is now available in BrasÃlia, Belo Horizonte, João Pessoa, Porto Alegre, São Paulo, Curitiba, Goiânia and Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, Florianópolis, Vitória and Palmas.
The goal defined by Anatel for operators is one 5G antenna for every 100,000 inhabitants. In Fortaleza, operators applied for licensing in 102 stations. In Recife, 63. In Natal, 33.
The 5G schedule in Brazil was delayed due to the lack of equipment coming from China. The imported equipment is filters that avoid interference.
On August 18, Anatel’s Board of Directors approved the postponement of the release of the technology in other Brazilian capitals. Now the new deadline is October 28.
Residents of cities that are receiving the technology and that watch TV through the satellite dish need to adapt the equipment to avoid possible interference.
Families enrolled in CadÚnico in social programs of the federal government that receive a satellite TV signal can request the free kit to adapt the equipment.
