The battle of the… Moon has begun: NASA and China are fighting over the landing spots

by

NASA has asked Beijing to provide more information about its program, as the two missions have “checked” the same areas for research

The same landing spots on the Moon are said to have been chosen by its space missions NASA and the Chinese space agency, opening yet another “conflict” front.

NASA called her China to be “open and transparent” with its lunar missions so that the two missions do not “fall” into the same spot.

“Just as the lunar South Pole is of scientific interest to NASA, it is also of scientific interest to other nations, so overlap in potential landing sites is to be expected,” a NASA spokesperson told the DailyMail.com.

The US space agency has selected 13 potential landing sites for the Artemis 3 crew mission, currently scheduled for late 202550 years after man’s last trip to Earth’s moon.

A Chinese magazine article on possible landing sites written by Chang’e-4 lunar mission commander Zhang He and others lists 10 points. The Artemis 3 and Chang’e-7 both identify locations near Shackleton, Haworth and Nobile craters as potential landing zones.

“We will continue to share our plans with the world as much as we can and hope that other nations will share their plans with us. We encourage open and peaceful space exploration, consistent with the principles of the Artemis Accords and the Outer Space Treaty,” the US space agency said.
