iFood says it will reinforce transparency to deliverers and assess annual adjustment

iFood signed a joint letter with the application’s deliverers stating that it will reinforce transparency measures on the blocking and suspension of workers on the platform and that it is considering implementing an annual adjustment.

The commitment came after a forum held with more than 20 couriers in the category, who met in São Paulo this week. Cloud delivery providers (individually registered in the application) and logistics operators who serve outsourced companies registered in iFood participated.

In the letter, the app states that it will provide more transparency about the reason for alerts and temporary suspensions and that it will carry out an informational campaign on the causes of blockages on the platform until January 2022.

It also committed to providing more transparency about the reasons for deactivating accounts and opening the possibility for couriers to challenge the deactivations again, considering those that occurred in the last six months.

“Cases of disputed deactivation will be reviewed by people, except in situations of financial fraud, use of account by third parties and registration fraud, which constitute permanent deactivation according to the terms and conditions”, said the company.

The temporary suspensions of the platform are a recurring reason for complaints from workers, who also say they cannot communicate easily with the application.

In addition to other measures related to migration processes from the logistical operating mode to the cloud, the company said it is evaluating the possibility of implementing an annual adjustment. By March of next year, he should take a stand on the topic.

“I was there, the president attended. Over the days, it was possible to see that they want to bring the delivery boy back. I’m giving my vote of confidence and the group that went too. There’s the letter of commitment, if they don’t comply, it’s a strike . This time, I believe,” said Ralf Elisário, a delivery boy from Rio de Janeiro who owns a channel about the category’s agenda on YouTube, with more than 21,000 subscribers.

In the medium term, iFood should also debate the revision of the minimum delivery fee. In 2022, regional forums will be held with active delivery people on the platform.

It was the first time that iFood met with couriers from different states to discuss delivery conditions. During the pandemic, the category held protests demanding an end to application blocks, better rates and other demands.

The deliverymen started to work more and in adverse conditions in face of the social restrictions imposed by the health crisis.
