The space technology is expected to be included in the primary and secondary education skills laboratories from next school year, with the contribution of the ESERO (European Space Education Resource Office) in Greece, which started its operation at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The Undersecretary congratulated the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, which successfully claimed the assignment of ESERO in Greece and which will contribute to the formation of STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) skills development programs in collaboration with primary and secondary education institutions.
“The office aims to integrate and enhance STEM teaching in basic education using state-of-the-art teaching methodologies,” she said, describing it as a long-term educational project for a sustainable future that will enhance STEM teaching and learning. Education through research and innovation is the path that will lead our children to the development of deeper characteristics, inclinations, talents, to the promotion of research thinking, to the acquaintance of students with research questions and methods, to the strengthening of extroversion of educational units. Space technology will enter primary and secondary education through skill workshops.
The ESERO Office at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, was established by the European Space Agency (ESA-European Space Agency), after an international competition, with the coordinated actions of the Rector’s Office of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The Rector of AUTh Nikos Papaioannou stressed that the office is part of the broader “logic of the upgraded public school with a vision and is what we need today in the 21st century”, emphasizing the extroversion and innovation of AUTh and that through this office stands out “The international prestige of the university and the significant work of its people”.
The aim of the ESERO Office is to highlight the importance of Space in modern society and the economy and this will be responsible for organizing and coordinating the education of teachers and students of primary and secondary education in Greece, STEM and Space sciences and in the production of relevant material.
“We want to reach all schools,” said the Vice Chancellor for Research and Lifelong Learning.
