The Ministry of Digital Governance announces that the action “3rd e-age: Digital empowerment and development of digital skills” has started and is ongoing in the Municipalities of Athens, Ioannito and Thermaikos. In this way, citizens over 60 have the opportunity to strengthen their digital skills, so that they can be active and feel digitally safe in their daily interactions.
The “3rd e-age” program is implemented by the National Technology and Research Infrastructure Network (EDYTE SA – GRNET), a supervised body of the Ministry of Digital Governance. It is based on the creation and operation of “Digital Corners” in selected points of the Municipalities, where citizens over 60 years of age can apply and participate in the free Digital Empowerment and Education program. Its implementation is supported by specially trained “Digital Assistants – Trainers”, who guide, train and support the citizens of the specific age group.
The aim of the action is for citizens to become familiar with and use the digital services provided by the public and private sectors and to develop corresponding digital skills. At the same time, to be able to communicate and network with their loved ones through modern digital communication media and social networks with confidence, security and trust in digital media and new technologies.
It is recalled that the action started as a pilot in June 2022 in the municipalities of Kavala and Florina and recorded a large participation. The second phase of the pilot operation announced today comes in implementation of the programming agreement signed by the Municipalities of Athens, Ioannito and Thermaikos with EDYTE.
