A new innovative feature presented by Apple on iOS that allows iPhone, iPad and Mac users to “digitally clone” their voice in just 15 minutes.

Personal Voice is aimed at helping those at risk of losing their voice, such as people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or other neurological conditions, and will likely be released as part of iOS 17 later this year.

Personal Voice can be trained in 15 minutes by reading randomly generated text messages aloud, and uses machine learning on the device to ensure your data is safe.

The feature will be available for use with the new feature Live Speech from Apple on iOS, which will allow users to type what they want to say and speak it out loud, during conversations, as well as over phone and FaceTime calls. The feature is said to work with all English accents and dialects.

The Motor Neurone Disease Association says that today cloning a voice, known as voice banking, usually takes an average of two hours or more with current technology and can cost hundreds of pounds.
