Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation signed by Association of Greek Chemical Industries and National Technical University of Athensin order to strengthen their cooperation in the field of research and innovation, specializing in the scientific fields of chemistry and biochemistry.

This memorandum reflects the joint intention of the two entities to contribute to the transition of the Greek chemical industry to the era of sustainability, through the design and development of chemical substances, materials and products that will be safe for humans and sustainable for the environment, in accordance with a relevant announcement.

The aim of the agreement of the two sides is to provide solutions to society’s problems, to further contribute to economic development and to create new opportunities for businesses and consumers.

The vehicle in this effort is SusChem Greecethe national branch of the SusChem European Technology Platform.

The memorandum signed by the rector of NTUA, Andreas Boutouvis and the president of SEHB, Armodios Giannidis, foresees, among other things, a series of actions for the implementation of the intended goals, such as the joint participation in national and European research and innovation programs, the creation of working groups and initiatives with the cooperation of the members of the two partners, the organization of joint events, publications and announcements, the development of networks with other national and international bodies and communication with European and international institutions.

The project is the reason for the strategic cooperation between the two sides IRISwhich initiates the creation of a permanent network for the ensuring the safety and sustainability of chemicals, materials and their production processes, right from their design stage.

The project is part of the wider European strategy in chemicals for sustainability and takes advantage of the geographical dispersion and locality of national technology platforms, such as SusChem Greece.

The collaboration extends to the European Advanced Materials Initiative 2030, an initiative that promotes the central role of materials in all major societal challenges facing European policy as well as contributing to the public-private partnership for Actions for the Planet , which aims to transition to a circular and climate-positive industry.

The two agencies will cooperate in the writing and activation of the Transition Roadmap of the Greek chemical industry in the era of environmental, social and economic sustainability.
