After the historic pre-lunar landing of the Indian lunar rover Chandrayaan-3 on August 23 and the first historic on-site discoveries of the Indian rover Pragyan at the unexplored and mysterious South Pole of the Moon, India put the spacecraft into sleep mode after they were completed the planned two-week experiments.

“Chandrayaan-3 mission: Rover completes its missions. It is now safely parked and put into sleep mode,” India’s space agency, ISRO, said.

For now, the rover is still signaling as its batteries are charged and its receiver is on.

“The solar panel is oriented to receive the light at the next sunrise expected on September 22, 2023. We hope for a successful awakening of a new series of missions!” ISRO said.

“Otherwise, the spacecraft will remain there forever, as India’s ambassador to the Moon.”
