Meta Group delayed the platform’s arrival in the EU to allow time to study the impact of European rules
The Meta group today launched in Europe the social networking platform Threads, a direct competitor to X (Twitter), which until now was not available in the European Union.
The platform has been operating since July in the rest of the world, but the Meta group preferred to delay its arrival in the EU in order to have time to study the impact of European rules.

What is Threads
Threads is a standalone app but users log in using an Instagram account. Their Instagram username carries over, but there is an option to customize their profile specifically for Threads.
Users will also be able to choose to follow the same Instagram accounts.
Also, the app allows users to be private on Instagram but public on Threads.
The platform allows users to post up to 500 characters
