#Hashtag: Brazilians are addicted to Wordle and Term and Google proves it

Social networks were taken by a fever this year 2022: Wordle and Termo.

In short, they are online five-letter word guessing games —Wordle in English, Term in Portuguese. There are six chances. The yellow squares are the letters that are in the word of the day, but elsewhere. The greens are the right letters, in the right place. Blacks are wrong letters.

Google is a thermometer of everything that happens in our society, and with these little games it couldn’t be different.

Every day at midnight, searches for “wordle” jump on Google in Brazil – time when a new challenge is launched in the tool.

On average, searches for Wordle grow 210% at midnight compared to 11pm, according to Google Trends data for the last week.

Interest in the game began to grow in Brazil in the first week of January 2022, and since then, searches for the platform have been steadily growing week by week.

Between February 6th and 12th, the last week for which there is complete search interest data, interest in the tool was 4900% higher than that recorded in the first week of January.

In February, “wordle” was 150% more searched than in January, according to Google Trends data.

In February, searches for the expression “words that begin…” grew 160% compared to January. The expression “words that end…” grew 115% in February compared to January.

The above data is about the game in English, which is easier to gauge growth than a word like “term”, which can be searched for in different ways and forms.
