Security and governance data in the age of artificial intelligence in a European and national context, as well as the integration of innovative solutions and cutting-edge technologies in the operation of businesses in various sectors of the economy, was the focus of an event organized by the Institute of Internal Auditors of Greece, in collaboration with the Association of Businesses and Industries (BSE).

Greek businesses should accelerate by 19 times their efforts in order to succeed in integrating artificial intelligence technologies, based on what is foreseen at the European level for the coming years, said Maria Bozoudi, advisor of the Sector of Industry, Development, Technology and Innovation of the BSE, opening the proceedings of the conference.

He also referred to a recent survey entitled “Business Pulse” of BSE, according to the results of which complacency is not allowed, as 66% of Greek businesses consider that artificial intelligence does not affect them, about 21% are interested in experimenting with AI applications and only 12% are already implementing some AI solution, more or less complex. Despite this paradox, businesses that leverage AI solutions are seeing results and benefits: in production lines and equipment maintenance processes, to worker safety and health, supply chain and customer service.

He also mentioned, among other things, the new initiative of the BSE, “RU-AI” which seeks to help Greek businesses to understand how the benefits of artificial intelligence concern them in a practical way. To achieve this, the experiences of the larger BSE member companies are used for the benefit of the smaller ones. The creation of value with artificial intelligence goes through more investments in cutting-edge technologies as well as the development of human resources. First major action of the initiative is, the Guide to Artificial Intelligence, a publication aimed at management and business executives to help them understand how artificial intelligence technologies are transforming processes and operations.

At the event, business executives presented the benefits and compliance challenges of incorporating innovative solutions and cutting-edge technologies, while also addressing the essential role of the internal auditor.
