The global IT meltdown caused by a software update by US cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike has affected nearly 8.5 million Microsoft devices, the tech giant announced today.

“Our estimate so far is that CrowdStrike’s software upgrade affected 8.5 million Windows devices, or less than one percent of all Windows devices,” the company said in a blog post today.
