OR Samsung Electronics recalls more than 1.1 million electric stoves sold in the US since 2013, following reports of 250 fires that destroyed property, killed pets and injured about 40 people.

Specifically, the company offers free locks and covers to buyers for over 12 stove models, which ensure that the front buttons remain in the “off” position. Samsung sold the stoves through retailers from Best Buy to Costco nationwide for between $1,250 and $3,050, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement.

Of course, the tech giant confirmed the fixes and sales details in a statement that made no mention of fires or injuries. The problem with the front knobs is an industry concern, and Samsung is working with the Commission and other major brands to address safety standards, a company spokesman said. The Korean company plans to offer only the repairs, not refunds or exchanges, according to the spokesperson.

Consumer brands around the world are familiar with product recalls. Samsung itself conducted one of the largest recalls ever in the tech industry in 2016 when it pulled the plug on a series of fire-prone Galaxy Note phones.
