OR OpenAI plans to release an early version of a new feature of his ChatGPT that will let users schedule simple tasks for later, as the company works to turn its popular chatbot into a more powerful digital assistant to rival Amazon’s Alexa.

The feature, announced Tuesday, will allow users to ask ChatGPT to compose a kid-friendly joke at bedtime at 8 p.m. or simply sharing a reminder to walk the dog every morning at 8am. The chatbot will then send a text notification, like a notification from the ChatGPT mobile app, at the specified time, according to Bloomberg.

Two years after OpenAI launched ChatGPT, the product now has more than 300 million users. weekly active users who use it for various functions. With the programmability option, OpenAI is trying to make ChatGPT more useful throughout the day by adding functionality similar to what digital assistants like Google’s Assistant, Siri, and Apple’s Alexa have long offered.

OpenAI expects to release the feature in beta in the coming days for ChatGPT Plus, Team and Pro subscribers, the company said.
