The two -day AI Action Summit was inaugurated today in Paris with heads of state and governments, businessmen, scientists, artists and members of civil society to give this present.

The conference is directed by the President of France Emmanuel Macron Together with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Monti, while China’s deputy Prime Minister, Ding Sugsiang, as well as US Vice President J. D. Vans – The latter’s participation in the Paris Conference is his first trip abroad since taking over his duties.

Sovereignty of US and China Businesses

The artificial intelligence industry is currently dominated by US companies, with Chinese companies following, while France and Europe are struggling to remain competitive.

This year Amazon is going to invest about $ 100 billion in AI growth infrastructure. Amazon’s platform for Cloud Computing, AWS, is already finding it difficult to cope with demand, according to Amazon leader Andy Jaye. Last quarter the business had already invested more than $ 25 billion in its infrastructure.

Since then, when Deepseek brought up and down to the world of AI, presenting an open-source model at a much lower cost than Openai’s corresponding Chatgpt, many are wondering whether the billions spent on artificial intelligence in the US are actually invested with appropriate way.

And Europe?

France is planning its own counterattack in the field of artificial intelligence: according to official reports, the largest Campus Campus for Europe in Europe is expected to be created in Paris, where there will be a huge computing center. Plans include investments of around 30 to 50 billion euros, which also includes the United Arab Emirates.

At the same time, the American Openai is expanding its presence in Europe having opened branches in London, Dublin, Paris, Brussels, Zurich and soon in Munich.

“As a country known for its technological know-how and industrial innovation, it is not surprising that Germany is leading worldwide in utilizing artificial intelligence applications,” Openai founder Sam Altman said.

According to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Germany is also the country in Europe with the most subscribers in the paid version of Chatgpt – and one of the first three in the world. In addition, after the US, Germany is the country with the most developers who can integrate chatgpt into other applications.

More or fewer regulations?

In the US there is no longer a regulatory framework for the development of AI. Shortly after returning to the White House, President Trump abolished the relevant legislation established by the Biden government.

In Europe, on the other hand, there are more who are demanding an extensive regulatory framework. Prior to the commencement of the Paris conference, about 100 researchers from 30 different countries warned that the new technology could lead to “loss of control” with dramatic impacts. Prior to the meeting, the researchers also presented the first international security report on artificial intelligence, which included UN, EU and OECD associates.

Physicist Axel Nauman participated as a speaker at an event before Ai Action Summit. During his speech on “The creation of a powerful open-source ecosystem for Europe’s independence” Nauman was in favor of promoting an artificial intelligence that will be developed in terms of morality and sustainability, even arguing that they should be explored. The consequences of AI on innovation, transparency and trust.

European values

Nauman also tells DW that Europe needs its own Open-Source Infrastructure to get the message “in Europe’s companies and institutions that it makes sense to invest together and then to reap the Open-Source fruits Infrastructure. “

Such an infrastructure, of course, requires significant investments, such as “to adapt administrative processes, products, advertising Open-Source and providing advice to political leadership and industries”. How does Nauman imagine Europe’s digital future? “The vision must include a Europe autonomous, which will host and process the data itself that will collect and have an ecosystem of various software that will respond to our values.”

In the future Europe should no longer depend on others and pay for use rights. Europe must, according to Nauman, “move in coordinated to cooperative Open-Source technologies”. The decisive will be, however, how and when the necessary infrastructure for this venture will be constructed.
