Russian Yuri Gagarin has name removed from American organization event

by

Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the first person to travel to space, was named after a fundraising event organized by the Space Foundation, an American non-profit organization.

According to Vanity Fair and Insider, Futurism has located a now-deleted post in which the organization states that “in light of current world events, ‘Yuri’s Night’ [Noite do Yuri] 2022 was renamed ‘A Celebration of Space: Discover What’s Next’ [Uma celebração do espaço: descubra o que vem a seguir]”.

The Space Foundation added, “The focus of this fundraising event remains the same — celebrating human achievements in space while inspiring the next generation to reach for the stars.”

The change in the fundraising campaign, which has been going on since 2001, comes amid a series of global sanctions imposed on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.

Such as sheet has already shown, several brands have already withdrawn their business from Russia and many Western countries have withdrawn Russian-branded products from their stores.

The first manned space flight, which Yuri Gagarin made history, took place on April 12, 1961. The Russian orbited the earth for 108 minutes and uttered the famous phrase “The Earth is blue” while observing the terrestrial globe.

Also according to Insider, the celebration organized by the Space Foundation, which will take place in April, will celebrate the wonders of space and the 10th anniversary of the organization at the Space Foundation Discovery Center, which is in the state of Colorado, in the United States.
