Intuitive Machines’s robotic vessel called “Athena” landed yesterday on the surface of the Moon, marking the second affection for a private American company this week, after its historic Blue Ghost, Firefly Aerospace.

Athena’s pre -enclosure was broadcast live by NASA, in a climate of excitement but now it is not clear where it is.

Shortly after landing, the team turned off the communication systems with the boat that was not necessary, said Jos Marshall, IM’s communications manager.

Athena landed on a 100km wide plateau called Mons Mouton, about 160 kilometers from the lunar south pole.

The exact location of the boat is currently unknown, but – according to Tim Crain, IM technology head – the crater mapping algorithm and spacecraft navigation software operate normally.

“Although it may not be in the landing zone, it is definitely in Mons Mouton,” Crain said.

However, the company’s chief executive, Steve Altemus, said that the second moon landing by Intuitive Machines had the same fate, with its first attempt last year.

The facts show that the landing of Athena was not so successful. The boat fell to the side, after problems with the laser distant.
