Openai is focusing on an artificial intelligence business, which estimates that it is at the “front line” of China’s race to lead in artificial intelligence – and is not Deepseek.
In a post on its blog on Wednesday, the company wrote that the Beijing -backed ZHIPU AI has made “remarkable progress” in the artificial intelligence race, as global competition is intensifying, the CNBC notes.
ZHIPU AI, founded in 2019, has been mentioned by the domestic media as one of China’s “AI tigers” – a category of large unicorn linguistic models that are considered as key to Beijing’s efforts to compete with the US and reduce its dependence on American technology.
While the other “Tiger AI” Deepseek has received the lion’s share of international attention after the release of the R1 model in January, Openai estimates that Zhipu’s expansion outside China and its links to Beijing deserve more attention.
Investments of about 1.5 billion.
The start -up company has raised funds from various local governments, according to state media. “ZHIPU AI leadership often works with CCP officials, including Prime Minister Li Qiang,” Openai claimed, identifying the value of state -backed investment in Startup at over $ 1.4 billion.
ZHIPU AI is alleged to have offices in the Middle East, the United Kingdom, Singapore and Malaysia, while also running common “innovation centers” throughout Southeast Asia, including in Indonesia and Vietnam.
