From today, citizens have the opportunity to declare the name of their child, his baptism, as well as to receive electronically the updated registration deed. According to a Joint Ministerial Decision of the Ministers of Interior Mavroudis Voridis and of State and Digital Government Kyriakos Pierrakakis, the new service is provided in a very simple way in gov.grthrough the section “Family” and the subsection “Birth”.
In particular, the citizen connects through the Taxisnet codes or the web banking codes and submits the declarations electronically. The naming declaration is made in combination by both parents. With the approval of the second parent, the statement is received electronically by the Registrar of the Municipality where the birth of the child was declared and proceeds to the naming.
Upon completion of the processing, the updated registration deed is sent electronically to the mailbox of the citizen, who at the same time notified by SMS and email to locate and save or print the document via my.gov.gr. The copy incorporates all security features (QR Code, Security Code, Advanced Electronic Stamp) and can be provided for any legal use.
Any parent or sponsor has the option of an electronic baptism declaration, following the same procedure. The Registrar registers it in the same way and the citizen is informed accordingly.
All the data of the citizen for the submission of the declarations are automatically drawn from Citizens’ Register through the Interoperability Center.
The design and development of the service was done by the Ministry of Interior, the National Network of Technology and Research Infrastructures (EDYTE SA – GRNET), the General Secretariat for Digital Governance and Simplification of Procedures and the General Secretariat for Information Systems of Public Administration.
The naming and baptism declarations are added to the joint actions planned and implemented in the last two years by the Ministries of Digital Government and Interior for the digitization of municipal services.
It is reminded that the following services have preceded and are already provided digitally through gov.gr:
· Digital birth certificate at the maternity hospital
Issuance of a certificate of marital status
Issuance of a birth certificate
Issuance of a certificate of citizenship
· Issuance of a certificate of close relatives
· Issuance of birth certificate
· Issuance of a marriage certificate
· Issuance of a cohabitation agreement
· Issuance of death certificate
· Registration of expatriate deeds by the Consulates
Furthermore, a significant reduction of the bureaucratic burden will be achieved with the provision of gov.gr boxes to the Municipalities next month. The Municipalities through the mailboxes will receive electronic requests of the citizens for municipal services and will issue certificates, responding immediately through a friendly working environment with the security and reliability of gov.gr Thus, the citizens will complete their affairs without coming with physical presence in the relevant Municipality.
