Astronomers discovered a giant black hole, which could even be the largest known black hole in the universe.

With a mass of about 36 billion times larger than our sun, the huge black hole is close to the theoretical ceiling of what is possible in the universe.

According to a new study published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, the black hole is about five billion light years away, in one of the largest well -known galaxies of the universe, the secular petal.

This black hole is the most bulky that has been measured, more than 10,000 times more bulky than oversized black hole in the center of our galaxy

“This is one of the 10 most massive black holes ever discovered and probably the most bulky, with a mass equal to a small galaxy,” said Thomas Collett, co-author of the study by the University of Portsmouth.

To accurately determine the mass of the black hole, Collett and his team measured how quickly the stars were swirling around it, as their speed depends on the mass of the black hole.

According to newscientist.com, the researchers also measured how much light was bent from the gravity of the black hole, a phenomenon called a gravier lens. “Combining these two phenomena, we managed to make this measurement with very high reliability,” says Collett.
