With one of the top European discrimination in its field Chemistrythe Robert Kellner Lecture Award 2025was honored by Professor Elia Psylakis from the School of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering of the Technical University of Crete. The award was made at the International Congress Euroanalysis 2025which took place this year in Barcelona.

The prize Robert Kellner Lecture Award It recognizes leading European scientists who have made a substantial contribution over the last five years to promoting research or education in the field of analytical chemistry. The award was established by the Department of Analytical Chemistry of European Chemical Associations (Division of Analytical Chemistry of the European Chemical Societies) in honor of Prof. Robert Kellner from the Vienna Technology University. It is awarded every two years, after a rigorous process of evaluating nominations proposed by chemicals’ compounds of each European country. The previous award -winnings include leading European internationally renowned scientists in the field of analytical chemistry.

International Recognition for Green Analytical Chemistry

This year’s jury’s choice turned to Prof. Elias Psylakis. In its official announcement, the Commission stresses that the prize is awarded “For its important research contributions in the last five years, especially with regard to the theory, practice and impact of green analytical chemistry and green sampling”.

It is worth noting that this is the first time this high distinction has been awarded to a Professor of Greek University. The Technical University of Crete, on the occasion of the award, pointed out that this success highlights the essential contribution of the Greek scientific community to global research, especially in a field that is crucial to the public health and environment.
