By compass the digital innovation In education, the event “AI in Schools: Artificial Intelligence in Education” was held, where a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Greek Government, the Openai and the Onassis Foundation. The Minister of Education, Religions and Sports, Sofia Zacharakis, opened the debate, prioritizing the priority Student Support and upgrading the role of teachers. At the same time, he discussed with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Openai CEO Sam Altman, while also highlighting the experiences of teachers and students with new technologies in the classroom.

New technologies and educational innovations

Ms Zacharakis pointed out the continuous commitment of the education system to the adoption of modern pedagogical methods, noting that Thousands of interactive tables and robotics kit have joined the school classes. Equally important is the teacher training in new technologies and the launch of specialized programs for the utilization of artificial intelligence in teaching.

The Minister emphasized the multilevel synergies of the Ministry, the Institute of Education Policy and the Onassis Foundation: “We have made days of dialogue with over 3,000 teachers for the ethical and pedagogical dimensions of TN. We organized AI Festivals open for the entire educational community, trained hundreds of teachers in the creative integration of TN in teaching and promoted the translation and distribution of UNESCO and EU drivers for the moral use of AI ». It is also noteworthy to enhance the culture of distinction, with students returning with international awards to artificial intelligence competitions.

Future goals and digital infrastructure

Government’s strategy includes digital transformation of the educational process, through interactive digital environments and thousands of open digital resources. At the same time developing digital assistant with artificial intelligence which meets the particular needs of each student, while designing 3D training tools and professional guidance platforms based on mechanical learning. Particular emphasis is placed on the creation of the first 13 innovation centers across the country.

The role of the Onassis Foundation and Openai

The President of the Onassis Foundation, Antonis Papadimitriou, described the cooperation as ‘A key time for educational policy in the country’ and a milestone, as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Foundation. Artificial intelligence in everyday school environment

Teachers and students participating in the program, such as Mr. George Arabatzis and the student Ada Katsana from the Pamak Experimental High School, highlight her immediate influence on class experience.
