The findings from the discovery of a fossil of prehistoric Furnain (kind of dolphin) was found in July in IKA, southern Peru, the researchers presented to Lima.
The three -and -a -half -meter fossilized skeleton, aged 10 to 12 million years old, was almost intact in the Desert of Okukhe, about 350 kilometers south of the Peruvian capital.
It is a prehistoric dolphin fossil that has still been a bit studied.
“It’s a kind of dolphin,” which lived “about 12 million years ago,” paleontologist Mario Gamaras, from the headquarters of the Institute of Geology, Mine and Metallurgy, told AFP.
“We have an almost complete skeleton, which allows to do more studies for the whole animal: how he moved, how he swims, what he ate or how many years he lived,” the expert explained.
Okukache is a desert that is very popular with paleontologists. Just more than twenty years ago, there were fossils of whales, dolphins, sharks and other kinds of Mio -carane – a period that began 23 million years ago and ended about 5 million years ago.
