The 36th European Young Scientists Competition (EUCYS 2025), held in Riga, Latvia, was completed with a double distinction for Greece, which took place in Riga, Latvia from September 15th to 20th.

The Greek mission, consisting of the students Hermes Tatsis (Pythagorean Gel Samos), Konstantinos Campani (Pierce – American College of Greece) and Alexander Tziora (American Agricultural School), was distinguished among 131 young scientists from 36 countries.

Hermes Tatsis won the 2nd European Award for his work, while Konstantinos Kampanis received the ISEF award, which provides him with participation in Regeneron International Science and Engineering FAIR (ISEF) In May 2026 in Arizona, USA. Alexander Tzioras received excellent reviews for his own work.

On the occasion of the successes of Greek students, the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Domna Michaelidou, noted that “Our young people have shown that Greece has a future in science and innovation. This double distinction is proud of us and shows what the younger generation can achieve when we give it opportunities. The European Competition of Young Scientists, in which Greece participates through the National Competition organized by the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family, and in particular the Youth Directorate of the General Secretariat of Demographic and Housing Policy, is an important opportunity for young people 14-20 years to showcase their creativity.

The next European competition (EUCYS 2026) will take place in Kiel, Germany.
