NASA prepares mission to the planet Uranus – “Is there life on the giant ice planet”?

by

NASA is launching a mission to the giant planet Uranus, according to a report by the National Academy of Sciences, which outlines space priorities for the next decade.

The report describes Uranus as “one of the most interesting bodies in the solar system” and says its study will improve our understanding of giant ice planets.

The spacecraft will have to operate in orbit around Uranus for several years, a detector in its atmosphere.

According to the Daily Mail, Uranus is the seventh planet in a row from the Sun and is essentially an “ice giant” with 17 known moons and a minimum temperature of -371 Fahrenheit.

The only spacecraft to visit the planet was NASA’s Voyager 2 in 1986.

Astronomers and space scientists have also suggested that NASA launch a visit to Saturn’s icy moon Enceladus to look for signs of life.

Every ten years, the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine bring together a team of space experts and ask them to come up with a proposal on how NASA should implement its budget in the field of planetary science and defense.
