The 10 innovative, sustainable and socially relevant student “start up” who stood out and qualified to compete in 17th Panhellenic Student Competition “Best Virtual Business 2022” announced the Junior Achievement Greece.

The program / competition “Virtual Business” is for the third year under the auspices of SA of President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulouwhile among the communication sponsors is the Athenian / Macedonian News Agency.

The original products / services created by the students «Startuppers» impressed the jury of the organization which, after examining in detail the 72 business plans of student groups from all over Greece, chose the 10 best that will claim the first prize.

The Panhellenic Student Competition for the promotion of the best Virtual Business of the year, which is the top event of Junior Achievement Greecewill be hosted on Friday 13 May 2022 at the Dome of the Cultural Center Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

The winner “Virtual Business 2022” will represent our country in Pan-European Competition of the Young Entrepreneurship Festival Gen_E 2022, which will take place in Tallinn, Estonia on July 12-14 and is organized by JA Europe. 40 student “companies” from all over Europe are participating in the competition.

The 10 student “start ups” that will compete in the Panhellenic Final of 2022, in alphabetical order of the “company” name are:

1. AGÔRA – GEL of the Diocese of Crete: AGÔRA is an innovative platform / application that compares prices from different cooperating Greek supermarket chains and with one click delivers the cheapest products to the consumer’s door. With the social basket, the consumer selects the products he wants and sends them where he wishes or to collaborating institutions.

2. BioVItems – 1st EPAL Mytilene: The company of the 1st EPAL Mytilene, with the distinctive title “PRS” (Peel Recycle Shape) aims to collect, sort and process household waste and mainly peeled citrus fruits, in order to convert them into biodegradable utility items (Eg bioplastic and biofabric).

3. Dorikos Sapon – GEL Geraki: GEL Gerakiou participates in the program “Virtual Business” of Junior Achievement Greece, creating the “Doric Soap” (“Doric Soap”), a student “start up”, with the object of production and distribution of handmade, ecological soap from olive oil and herbs of the area. Students associate the production and promotion of quality local products with the conditions created by the rapid dissemination of information. This is how they connect school with entrepreneurship and sustainability.

4. Enviro Social – Experimental Florina Robotics Group of Gymnasium – Lyceum: An innovative environmental social network, where users share measurements that affect the micro-climate, and which they collect themselves while cycling. At the same time, they see maps with all the real-time network measurements, statistical graphs and alerts for busy routes, while they have the ability to interact and network with other people who have the application. Our system consists of an application for smartphones and mobile environmental stations that are placed on the bike and other means of transport.

5. Microgreens – Magicgreens – 2nd Experimental High School of Kilkis: A fully automated booth for growing and growing small vegetables – the most trendy gastronomic trend – with the use of old computer towers to be withdrawn (circular economy). The ideal cultivation conditions are achieved through an automation system which is controlled using the Internet of Things (IoT) ensuring the continuous monitoring of the cultivation by the customer and the quality of production. Clarification: The group is called “Microgreens-Magicgreens” but the chamber (ie the product) is called MICROWONDERS.

6. MIDDLE EARTH RESORT – Gel of Antimacheia Kos: MIDDLE EARTH RESORT is a Tolkien-inspired tourism business. It consists of 10 cave dwellings built with the method of Rammed Earth (compressed earth), capable of accommodating 50 people. It promotes a new type of tourism, luxury eco-tourism, which marries luxury with ecology. Uses local materials and products and renewable energy sources. It supports the local economy of a beautiful remote island leaving a minimal ecological footprint.

7. Maison de Monce Circulaire – MMC 1º GEL Trikala: The company Maison de Mode Circulaire- MMC is active in the field of circular economy and more specifically in the field of fashion. The goal of the company is the utilization of used clothes and their performance to the consumer public. Used clothes are collected at the company’s premises. A sorting and processing process is followed and then they are resold through the website. It also mediates the sale or exchange of used cars.

8. Mini Farm – Future Farmers – Psychiko College High School: Future Farmers has created the Mini Farm, the innovative hydroponics kit from recyclable materials. With Mini Farm, the process of growing plants and herbs from ancient Greek seeds is experienced in a modern way by young and old. Our goal is to strengthen the relationship with nature and raise public awareness about the preservation of seeds as a cultural heritage.

9. My_Pine – Experimental High School of the University of Macedonia: My_Pine respectfully collects dry pine needles in the forest and creates ecological and natural disinfectants and surface cleaners, microbicides, completely biodegradable. With zero cost raw material, its value for money products disinfect and clean without “polluting” the planet and, unlike the corresponding chemicals, do not threaten health.

10. The Extra Mile – Pierce American College of Greece: The “Extra Mile” shows the way to enhance the road safety of cyclists! The automation connects to our mobile phone and alerts other drivers in a timely manner when we want to turn or brake to prevent possible accidents. Thus, together with the prevention of accidents, we protect the environment and alleviate the family budget!

The competing teams will be at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center from 09:00 on Friday morning, May 13, will present their products from their stands to the jury, will give closed-door interviews, will make their official presentations on the stage of the Dome in the presence of the jury, will return to the stands and the day will end with the awarding of prizes. The awards ceremony will start at 18:00 and will end shortly after 19:00 with the awarding of the 1st Prize.
