The Russian occupation authorities are launching an operation to “de-Ukrainianize” the students in Mariupol according to a Ukrainian official.

The Russian authorities in control of the martyrdom city have decided to abolish school holidays to prepare her students for the Russian school curriculum, Petro Andryuchenko said on Thursday

According to Andryutshenko, an adviser to the Ukrainian mayor of the city, whose last defenders surrendered in the previous days, “the occupiers announced the extension of the school year until September 1.”

“The children will take lessons all summer Russian language, Russian history and mathematics in Russian. “The main purpose is to democratize and prepare (the students) for their return to school based on the Russian school curriculum,” he said.

Andryutshenko noted, however, that the Russian “conquerors” have not yet been able to find enough teachers, “only 53 teachers for 9 schools.” He did not specify how many students attend these schools.

After a three-month siege that destroyed this city of 500,000 inhabitants, Russian forces managed to lay down their arms on May 20, the last fighters defending the Azofstal steel plant. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, about 2,500 Ukrainian soldiers of the Azov Order, whom Russia describes as “Nazis”, have surrendered. This number has not been confirmed by Kyiv.
