Sullivan to Kalin: Continue dialogue on resolving disputes in Eastern Mediterranean

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan stressed the need for continued dialogue and diplomacy to resolve disputes in the Eastern Mediterranean during a telephone conversation with Turkish Presidency spokesman Ibrahim Kalin, according to the report.

The two sides also discussed Ukraine, Sweden and Finland’s accession to NATO, as well as adherence to the ceasefire in northeastern Syria, the US presidency said.

According to a White House statement, Jake Sullivan discussed with Ibrahim Kalin “the continued support (of the US and Turkey) in Ukraine in view of the continuing aggression of Russia, as well as their respective efforts to allow Ukrainian exports agricultural products to reach world markets.

Mr Sullivan voiced support for Turkey’s ongoing direct talks with Sweden and Finland to resolve concerns over their US-backed NATO bids.

He also reiterated the importance of avoiding escalation in Syria in order to maintain existing ceasefire lines and avoid further destabilization.

“Finally, Mr. Sullivan urged the continuation of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve any disputes in the Eastern Mediterranean region.”
