Mitsotakis to Zelensky: Ukraine to align with EU positions |

Greek-Ukrainian relations at the political level, as well as the prospects for further deepening of bilateral cooperation, with emphasis on the development of bilateral economic and trade relations, were put on the table during the meeting of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and President of Ukraine Volodymyr , on the sidelines of the COP26 Summit in Glasgow, according to government sources.

According to the same sources, regional and international issues were also discussed. The Prime Minister briefed the President of Ukraine on the latest developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and Turkey’s behavior, noting that international problems should be resolved in accordance with international law and United Nations resolutions.

In this regard, Kyriakos Mitsotakis called for strengthening Ukraine’s alignment with EU decisions and common positions.

In addition, the Prime Minister expressed Greece’s support for the deepening of EU-Ukraine relations, both bilaterally and within the institutional framework of the Eastern Partnership.

Particular reference was made to the large Greek community in eastern Ukraine, and to the possibilities presented for the development of cultural relations.

Mr. Zelenski invited Kyriakos Mitsotakis to visit Ukraine, an invitation that the Prime Minister accepted.
