Trooping the Color is a centuries-old tradition involving Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family.
Royal worshipers flew to a central London shopping mall to watch a temporary ceremony or to see Her Majesty on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
But what exactly is Trooping the Color and why does it host this event every year?
Here is everything you need to know.
What is Trooping the Colour? When did it start?
Trooping the Color, also known as the Queen’s Birthday Parade, celebrates the monarch’s official (second) birthday in June, but the actual birthday is April 21.
The annual Summer Festival has been held since 1758, when thousands of people visited the capital to attend the official celebration of King George II’s birthday.
It is usually attended by several members of the Queen and the royal family, usually more than 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians.
During the parade, the Queen usually inspects the soldiers of the household units.
The term “soldier” or “soldier” comes from the tradition of the British Army. In order for the army to understand the colors of the various regiments, the officers go to the ranks of the army who stood in the ranks and waved the colors.
“Colour” is another way of describing the regimental flags of various British Army units and was used to quickly identify units on the battlefield.
Each year, different regimental colors enter.
The collection of colors usually begins when the Queen leaves Buckingham Palace and is accompanied by a sovereign escort from the Household Cavalry Regiment.
He goes to a horse guards parade to receive a royal salute and then performs an army inspection. After the soldiers pass the Queen with the flag, she returns to Buckingham Palace for a second salute.
A 41-arm salute is held in Green Park, where the Queen joins members of the royal family on the palace balcony.
There is also a spectacular flight with a red arrow from the Royal Air Force.
When is Trooping the Color 2022? Is it different for Platinum Jubilee?
In 2022, Trooping the Color marks the start of the platinum jubilee weekend on Thursday, June 2.
A variety of festive events are planned, including the lighting of the lighthouse, a concert at Buckingham Palace and a carnival-style pageant on Sunday June 5.
At this year’s Trooping the Color, the 1st Battalion’s Irish Battalion will parade for the Queen. Just a few days ago, Prince William was filmed in a dress rehearsal as a colonel.
According to the BBC, the Queen will appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace after the ceremony, with the addition of working members of the royal family.
This could include Prince William, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, and perhaps Prince Charles and Prince Camilla, and the Duchess of Cornwall.
This year, Prince Harry, Megan, the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Andrew are not expected to appear on the balcony.
Her Majesty’s appearance is sure to please Beam, 96, at the Chelsea Flower Show and delight royal watchers who have just opened the Elizabeth Line in Paddington.
