As the excitement of the delight continued, an excited crowd gathered today at St. Paul’s Cathedral for Thanksgiving.
The Queen did not attend the morning ceremony, but attendees kept an eye out for Prince Harry and Megan Markle.
The cathedral service included Bible readings, prayers and hymns “in honor of the Queen’s reign, faith and service”.
When the real super fans were sitting at the entrance of St. Paul, the crowd constantly gathered at dawn. Some even discussed the best space.
Joseph Afran, 58, from south-west London, said he woke up at 3am anticipating the event.
He arrived in St. Paul at 5 am and found a spot on the other side of the cathedral steps.
“I’m a big fan of the kingdom,” he said.
Her Majesty has done a lot for Britain, the community and the world. She has been on the throne for 70 years and works continuously.
“I wanted to support her and express my solidarity.”
Joseph said he was “disappointed” but “understood” the Queen’s reason for not attending today.
“I’m still celebrating all weekend,” he added.
A special invitation to the ceremony has arrived for a lucky royalty.
The Rev. Johnny and his wife Salaries, who received the MBE for working with vulnerable teens during the pandemic, were among the guests.
He said: “We wanted the Queen to be here, but of course we understand.
We have great respect for the Queen.
“Obviously we know we were part of the empire, but I think we need to admit the mistakes and celebrate the good parts.”
Hazer and Covey Morrison arrived from Aberdeenshire for today’s ceremony.
The couple were welcomed by a town called Strachan in Royal Discid, near the Scottish home of the Queen of Balmorals. Heather received a royal invite after receiving the MBE on June 1.
“It was already a great experience,” he said.
“We were very excited to arrive. It’s a shame the Queen isn’t here, but I understand why.
Kawaie wore a Morrison tartan and Heather a Scottish tartan jacket and skirt.
Professor Chris Imafidon was asked to join the Royal Family of St. Paul in a charitable effort to help vulnerable children in education.
He was “extremely disappointed” at not being able to see the Queen, but spoke at length about his admiration for Her Majesty, “always consistent with what he believes.”
The appearance of Harry and Megan caused a stir among the people.
This was the first time the couple had appeared alongside the royal family for the first time in two years.
Gail Wilson Downey and Sarah Wilson were called up as part of the Northern Ireland officials.
They said all members of the royal family were “happy to be together” during the ministry, despite the tense expectations of family reunification.
Mother and daughter Lisa and Jesse came catering for their wedding anniversary.
Lisa said:
We don’t know why people hate them: they are the next generation.
He added: “The royal family is our legacy and we hope it continues.
“The Queen won’t be long. I hope a lot of people come out today.”
Enthusiastic participants included Julie, Allison and Annie Cardiff.
The trio arrived in London yesterday and went to see the “colored army” “go straight to the hotel room, drop the bag and get out.”
They have been planning this trip for over a month and have hired a tailor to make them a special dress (Union Jack and Welsh flag) for the Sky Tower concert tomorrow.
Julie broke her right leg, but “didn’t forgive her,” she stayed with her daughter until midnight and decorated her cane in Union Jack.
The mother cried out from her love for the Queen, “Unifying the country and devoting herself to such service.”
The women said: “I am very disappointed that the Queen is not here, but she seems to have had a great day yesterday and is really worth the rest.”
The group emphasized that they are fans of the entire royal family and all of its members.
“There are flawed members, but all families have flaws,” said Anna.
They were already fully decked out in Union Jack colors, but the women stopped to talk to purchase additional flags.
Desmond Baker from Newtonab, Northern Ireland, was playing before the service.
She was in London 10 years ago and celebrated the Queen’s throne with her partner Richard Weir.
Richard died two and a half years ago, but Desmond says “a part of him” is watching him today.
He states: “We had a great time together. I’m the only one here today, but I’m still excited.
“I have great respect for His Highness and the entire royal family.
“The Queen has done something extraordinary. The atmosphere today is amazing.”
Mark and his partner arrived from Warwickshire over the weekend.
She added: “The last royal event I attended was Princess Diana’s funeral, but that was about the time I got to my wedding anniversary.
“I think the Queen has just provided the country with a stability that no other country has.”
Her Majesty will not be attending today’s event, but will light the lighthouse at Windsor Castle tonight as fires are lit across the country in her honour.
“The queen was very pleased with today’s birthday parade and airfare but suffered some discomfort,” the palace said yesterday.
“Given the travel and activities required to attend tomorrow’s national service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty was very reluctant to attend.”
