Vladimir Andnov, 44, from the Republic of Buryatia in eastern Russia, is a member of the infamous Wagner Group and was allegedly killed in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine.

Wagner Group is a private military company designated by the US government as a surrogate unit for the Russian military.

He has been fighting with Russian separatists in the Donbus region since 2014, working in Syria, Libya and Mali.

Most of the Wagner Group fighters are former paratroopers or members of the special forces.

The group has been accused of war crimes and “serious human rights abuses” in the countries in which it operates, for which it has called for sanctions from the EU and the United States.

Andnov earned the nickname “Butcher” during the war in Ukraine and due to the brutal tactics he used in his previous missions in Syria and Libya.

Andnov is reportedly killed by Ukrainian snipers

The first Russian version of the Moskovsky Komsomolets wrote about his death:

“He died last night while exploring the area with a friend.”

This post alleges that Andnov was killed by a sniper.

It was previously said that Andnov fought for Russia in Donbus in 2014, belonged to the special forces and won medals “for his achievements in combat”.

Andnov is believed to have played a significant role in the shootings of Ukrainian prisoners of war and the massacre of civilians in Donbus.

Andnov’s death confirmed on the Russian channel Telegram

His death was confirmed on the Telegram messaging app by Russian military sources based in Buryatia, eastern Russia.

“He died at night during a reconnaissance of the area, probably with his companions killed by snipers,” an unnamed source said.

Another military telegram channel says that he died with another fighter from the Buryatia region, Bear Mitzfoff.

The death is another loss for Putin, who is said to have lost two generals in an attack on Sunday.

Lieutenant Roman Beldnikov, 47, and Major General Roman Kutuzov were reportedly killed during the same ambush on a bridge in eastern Ukraine.
