Travelers who book EasyJet flights for the five months through March 2020 will receive compensation of up to €2,000 for major data breaches.

It is estimated that 9 million people have been hacked on the Internet using personal information.

Some 2,200 people also had credit card data stolen. It contains enough details for a thief to pay online from his account.

EasyJet discovered the breach in January 2020 and alerted the information watchdog, but failed to notify all victims four months later.

Victims of hacking must be notified by email from EasyJet between April and July 2020.

If you can’t find your email inbox, but think you’ve received it, you can still view your complaint.

Affected customers have booked flights or vacations from October 17, 2019 through March 4, 2020.

Plaintiffs may find that individual proceedings cost much more than the cost of potential compensation, but there are many class action claims in which one can participate.

Group Procedures (GLO) have been created by several companies, including Leigh Day and PGMMB, and are served by thousands of clients.

The lawyers will allege that EasyJet misused their personal information and breached privacy under the Data Protection Act 2018.

Once installed, the GLO will appear in court and the list of group actions taken by Her Majesty the Court, published on the gov.uk website.

However, the court will enforce the termination date, so potential victims will be urged to explore their options as soon as possible.

A spokeswoman for Lee Day told the Sun that her company is expected to start the process “by the end of the year.”

EasyJet said last year that it “violently opposed” any claims, “some classes of law firms make claims to EasyJet customers whose data may be at risk. However, this does not mean consumers are claiming compensation.” .
