“We have seized 2.2 tonnes of cocaine, which was to be transported by ship to Rotterdam in the Netherlands,” from the port of Cayo, near Lima, Col. Cesar Etseveria, head of the Diocese, told AFP.

As he stressed, the two Albanians are said to be in charge of the circuit. “It is a network with links to Colombia, Ecuador and Albania,” Etseveria told reporters.

Since the beginning of the year, Peruvian police have seized about 35 tonnes of drugs.

Peru is among the countries with the highest production of cocaine, with about 400 tons per year, according to official data.
